By Ben GrubbSeptember 30, 2024, 6:00pm

We don’t wanna wait till the weekend comes, but we might just have to after The Beresford announced that Australian singer Jessica Mauboy will perform live at its Beresford Sundays event on October 13.

The Merivale-owned Surry Hills pub and club, known by locals as simply “the Bero”, announced the news on its social media accounts on Monday afternoon.

“We are thrilled to have this pop icon grace our stage,” it said. “It’s been a long wait, but it’s finally happening! Don’t miss out on this unforgettable night of music and fun. See you there!”

Mayboy is behind hits such as Pop a Bottle (Fill Me Up), Inescapable, Little Things, Burn, Never Be the Same and Can I Get a Moment?

This year, Mauboy is an ARIA Awards nominee for Song of the Year for her track Give You Love featuring Jason Derulo. She’s also nominated for Best Pop Release with another of her songs, Yours Forever.

Beresford Sundays events are typically free entry, though the venue has yet to announce the start time of her performance or any other details. We will provide updates via Instagram Story once we hear more.

Other acts confirmed for the night include DJs James Alexandr, Dan Murphy, and Joelby upstairs, with Flatline, Alex Taylor, Colin Gaff, and Kate Monroe performing downstairs.

The venue hosted DJ Kitty Glitter last Sunday and has a series of acts lined up for future dates.

Among them are Melbourne drag queens Kali Fornicate and Sabrina Babyslut, who form DJ duo the Jawbreakers. They will perform on Sunday, October 6, for the long weekend.

Others performing at the long weekend event are DJs Jonny Marsh, Enn, Adam Love, Alex Taylor, Amanda Louise and Victoria Anthony

Attendees have been told to expect a vibrant mix of dance music, theatrical flair, and top-tier drag, promising bold, colourful fun and surprises.

The Beresford will also host “Howl-oween” in partnership with Sydney Dogs and Cats Home on October 27. Hosted by Justin Hill, the event encourages patrons to dress up their furry friends in spooky attire to compete for prizes in categories such as Best Dressed, Best Look-Alike, Best Rescue Story, and Best Trick. Market stalls will also be part of the festivities.
