Dykadellic, a new lesbian dance party, will begin this Friday at Kinselas and run for five consecutive weeks to coincide with the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
With millions of tickets sold and tens of thousands of women attending FIFA Women’s World Cup games in Australia and New Zealand, party planner Victoria “Torz” Rose noticed questions online asking “Where are the parties?”

She said she immediately knew that she had to correct this “party error”.
“I love a good dance party,” said Rose. “But finding a venue open to dedicating a space to lesbians, with decent music and the right club vibe, was hard to come by.”
She approached Kinselas – home to the Poof Doof party on Saturdays, which attracts a predominantly gay male crowd – and it agreed to host it.
“Why should the boys have all the fun?” said Rose. “We want this to be a place where lesbians, trans, and genderqueer people feel safe to party.
“We’ve found an amazing line up of awesome DJs, and partnered with Kings of Joy to bring drag king shows to every party.”

Headlining acts include DJs Sveta, James Alexandr and Victoria Anthony.
There will also be some other welcoming touches, like “wing women” roaming the space, “so if you’ve arrived alone you can chat with a friendly face”, said Rose.
“Obviously we have to keep a couple of tricks up our sleeve for the parties, so if you want to know more, you’ll need to come along,” she said.
Dykadellic is a passion project for Rose and one of the first lesbian events to return to Oxford Street outside of Mardi Gras & WorldPride.
“Events like Dykadellic can only exist with the support of our community, and I’m excited to see more lesbian and femme-forward events on Oxford Street and at queer venues,” she said.
More than 80 per cent of tickets have been sold for Dykadellic’s July 21 opening night, but you can still secure a ticket via Humanitix.
The remaining tickets for opening night are $40. However, tickets for other events over the four weeks are between $15 and $25.

Dykadellic will run 9pm to 3am.
