Sophie Ellis-Bextor has officially been announced as the main headliner for the Mardi Gras Bondi Beach Party.
Known for her blend of disco pop and electronica, the English singer joins a line-up that includes US singer Slayyyter and international DJs Jay Jay Revlo, Lagoon Femshaymer and Corey Craig.
Ellis-Bextor’s career spans over two decades and includes hits like “Murder on the Dancefloor”, “Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)” and “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)”.
“Murder on the Dancefloor” is likely to be a highlight of Ellis-Bextor’s set after it climbed back to the top of the charts more than 20 years after its release due to its use in the film “Saltburn”.
The track has become a viral sensation, amassing millions of streams and topping Spotify’s Viral 50 chart in the US.
Aussie DJs Tyoow, Mama de Leche, and Beth Yen will also be at the Bondi party to “amplify the party vibes” as the sun sets on Bondi Beach, Mardi Gras says.
The Bondi Beach Party is on Saturday, February 24, and tickets are selling for $242.95, which includes the booking fee. It runs from 2pm until 10pm.
Singer Adam Lambert will headline the official Mardi Gras After Party on March 2. It is at the Hordern Pavilion and starts at 10pm and will go until 8am.
Tickets to the after-party cost $246.95, which includes a booking fee.
