Ben Grubb is the founder and editor of Gay Sydney News, an independent publication covering LGBTQIA+ news. A journalist with more than 15 years' experience, he has reported and edited for The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, WAToday, Brisbane Times, The Australian Financial Review, News.com.au, ZDNet, TelecomTimes and iTnews, primarily on the topic of technology. He previously hosted The Informer, a queer current affairs program on Melbourne’s JOY 94.9 radio station, and contributes to LGBTQIA+ media including Stun Magazine. Oxford Street security guards will wear vests with pride flags on them in a new initiative funded by the City of Sydney that forms part of a broader campaign to ensure the strip remains a safe space for people of diverse sexualities and genders.

The Sydney Mardi Gras board has written to members of NSW’s parliament informing them they will no longer be welcome to the Mardi Gras parade if they oppose Sydney MP Alex Greenwich’s Equality Bill, which is designed to modernise laws and advance equality for the LGBTIQA+ community.

Oxford Street small bar Ching-a-Lings will hold its final Gawj drag night event this Thursday and replace it during June’s Pride Month with a new drag competition hosted by the “Cxnty Women’s Association”.
