About us

Gay Sydney News was founded by journalist Ben Grubb on January 2, 2023.

Grubb brings a wealth of experience in journalism and public relations. Born in Hobart, he relocated to the Sunshine Coast with his family in 2004 before moving to Sydney in 2009 to pursue a career in media. While Sydney has been his primary home, he’s also spent brief periods living in Melbourne and Brisbane.

Gay Sydney News provides comprehensive coverage of Sydney’s gay nightlife, including the happenings on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst and the vibrant clubs, restaurants, and bars of Newtown, Surry Hills, and Erskineville. It also shines a spotlight on the queer entertainment industry, including drag performers, and examines NSW and federal politics as they relate to LGBTI+ issues and beyond.

Grubb is supported in his efforts by Gay Sydney News reporter Eliot Hastie.
