Gay Sydney News is a volunteer-run operation founded by journalist Ben Grubb on January 2, 2023.
Grubb has had a long career in journalism and public relations. He was born in Hobart and moved with his family to the Sunshine Coast in 2004 before taking the plunge and moving to Sydney to pursue a career in the media. He’s lived in Sydney since 2009, with short stints in Melbourne (~10 months), Brisbane (~5 months) and Hobart (~3 months).
Gay Sydney News covers Sydney’s gay nightlife; the goings on of Oxford Street in Darlinghurst; the clubs, restaurants and bars of Newtown, Surry Hills and Erskineville; the queer entertainment industry including drag performers; NSW and federal politics where it intersects with LGBTI+ issues; and much more.
