About us

Gay Sydney News provides comprehensive coverage of Sydney’s gay nightlife, including the happenings on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst and the vibrant clubs, restaurants, and bars of Newtown, Surry Hills, and Erskineville. It also shines a spotlight on the queer entertainment industry, including drag performers, and examines NSW and federal politics as they relate to LGBTI+ issues and beyond.

Gay Sydney News was founded by former Sydney Morning Herald journalist Ben Grubb on January 2, 2023, as an Instagram news page. In April 2024, this news website was launched.

Grubb has been supported in his efforts by Gay Sydney News reporter Eliot Hastie, who now runs Gay Sydney Daily.

Grubb operates Gay Sydney News as a sole trader, bringing extensive experience in journalism and public relations to his role as editor. The publication is funded through contributions via Donorbox and selected sponsored content, which is always clearly labelled.
