Singer Adam Lambert has been confirmed to perform as the headline act at this year’s Mardi Gras After Party, which will span across six venues at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter precinct following the parade down Oxford Street.
Mardi Gras says music genres for the night will include house, techno, pop, electronica, nu-disco, club, and R’n’B.
The Hordern Pavilion venue within the Entertainment Quarter will adopt a “grunge warehouse energy” this year, Mardi Gras says, offering “contemporary, Chicago, and vocal house”.
It is in the Hordern where Adam Lambert, Ultra Naté, ONYX, Brett Austin, Patrick Mason, DJ Monki, and Mark Alsop will perform.
Meanwhile, the Hordern forecourt will feature vocal house, pop, and nu-disco.
It is in the forecourt where CeCe Peniston will perform alongside Keiynan Lonsdale, Miss Katalyna, Shigeki, Bobby Blanco, SGT Slick, and Ebstar.
The Liberty Hall venue will delve into the darker realms of techno, tech-house, world music, and electronica, reminiscent of a Boiler Room setting, says Mardi Gras. This space will feature music by DJ Naian, Lisa May, AK Sports, Jennifer Loveless, Marsh Long and Chela.
The Big Top venue will feature 90s and 2000s club classics. Here, DJs DADSMAYO, Charlie Villas, Mary Kiani, Alan Thompson, Kate Monroe and GI Jode will spin their DJ decks.
The Watson’s venue “is all about classic divas, disco, and retro hits”, says Mardi Gras. The line-up includes Diva Cups, Mama de Leche, Dyan Tai, DJ Anvi, Sexy Galexy and an “entourage of Drag Kings”.
Lastly, Mary’s and the Entertainment Quarter precinct will provide food trucks, bars, and “chill zones”.
Mardi Gras says the event “features 10 hours of non-stop entertainment, drawing in over 10,000 people and showcasing over 50 artists”. One thing for revellers to keep in mind if they want to watch Adam Lambert perform is that the Hordern has a capacity of 5500.
With up to 10,000 tickets being sold, ticketholders will need to be inside the Hordern early to secure their spot.
The After Party is on March 2 and tickets are selling for $246.95. As of 11am AEDT on Tuesday, ticket reselling platform Tixel had 36 tickets available for purchase starting from $190.
The release of the after-party lineup comes after a version of it was published and then taken down last Friday – by the official Instagram account of one of the artists on the list.
Just after 5pm AEDT on Friday, CeCe Peniston posted the 2024 lineup to her account with the caption: “Can't wait to see you for Sydney #mardigras …… I'm excited”.
The post – published on a public holiday – was deleted just before 7.30pm.
The official release of the Mardi Gras After Party lineup follows US singer and songwriter Slayyyter being confirmed to headline the Bondi Beach Party.
However, Mardi Gras says a “final performer” will be announced on February 14 — just over a week before the event is due to be held.
Other performers who have been confirmed for the Bondi Beach Party include DJs Zooey Gleaves, Jay Jay Revlon, Corey Craig, Josh Harrison, Beth Yen, Tyoow and Mama De Leche.
The Bondi Beach Party is being held on February 24 and will cost $242.95. As of 11am AEDT on Tuesday, there were 14 tickets on ticket reselling platform Tixel starting from $205.
