Two men have been arrested as investigations continue into the alleged stabbing and attempted murder of two men outside Darlinghurst’s Noir nightclub.
NSW Police will allege in court that a 25-year-old man was approached by a group of men – armed with knives – and stabbed multiple times in an attack just after 3am on July 29.
A 34-year-old man was also allegedly stabbed when he went to the aid of the younger man.
The younger man was driven to St Vincent’s Hospital by friends, where he was treated for his injuries.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the older man, and he was conveyed to hospital for injuries sustained to his arm and hand. Both have since been released from hospital.
Following inquiries, NSW Police investigators, with the assistance of Queensland Police, arrested a 21-year-old man in Redbank Plains, in Queensland, on Thursday.
He was taken to Ipswich Magistrate’s Court on a NSW arrest warrant, where NSW Police detectives applied for and were granted his extradition to NSW. The man was scheduled to be escorted to Sydney via a flight on Friday.
Following further inquiries, investigators arrested an 18-year-old man at a home in Lalor Park, in Sydney’s west, about 6.35am on Friday. He was taken to Riverstone police station where police said he was assisting police with inquiries.
Earlier this month Surry Hills police area command crime manager Detective Inspector Joel Best said the incident was a targeted attack. “It wasn’t just a random act of violence on Oxford Street,” he said. “This is a terrifying ordeal and it should never occur on any street in Sydney.”
GSN has previously published CCTV footage that captured the chaos following the attack, as well as a statement from Noir’s co-owner who said the alleged perpetrators were not patrons of the establishment.
“It’s nothing that’s within our control what happened … Someone who didn’t even come to the club or try to get in and [has] zero affiliation to us or what we stand for has done the wrong thing,” said Noir co-owner Ronny Dubé at the time.
“It’s a shame and disappointing that anyone, anywhere is resorting to violence,” he said.
Earlier this month, police released CCTV of three men fleeing from the area.
